We have now been advised that power has been restored to the area and that the lock is now fully operational.

Could boaters please be aware that Birkwood Lock is currently non-operational, due to a power failure which is affecting the area. This outage has occurred as a result of planned works by Northern Power Grid, at various sites around Birkwood Road. It is anticipated that power will be restored around 17:00 hours, although this is to be confirmed.
It is hoped that, once the supply is restored to the lock, it will automatically reset. If this does not occur, an operative will be required to attend and reset it manually.
This notice will be updated once the lock is fully operational.
