We are pleased to advise navigation is back open at Lock 28W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal following a successful repair.

Navigation is currently closed at Lock 28W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal after the mitre post on the top gate became detached from the balance beam, making it unsafe to operate.
Our teams are working closely with specialist contractors to fabricate custom brackets to secure the gate and get things moving again as soon as possible. In the meantime, boats can still turn around at the winding holes at Wool Road Basin below Lock 24W or above Lock 32W.
