Unfortunately a boat has struck the upper part of the Lock at the Top gates at this location. This has caused significant damage to both the wall, fender and the locking mechanism. The lock is now total inoperable and will need a stoppage to assess the damage caused and to carry out repairs. As soon as more details are available we will update this notice.

The lock has been temporary fixed to allow safe operation of the lock, unfortunately the offside paddle system has had to be dismantled and will need further repairs to the wall and the paddle structure. The towpath side paddle is operational and will allow passage through the lock. Thank you for your patience and for the support to the team on site.
