Railway Bridge 2 next to Colne Bridge Lock, Colne Bridge

A navigation and towpath closure are required to allow Third Party Contractors working on behalf of Network Rail to install a new bridge deck. A pontoon crash deck is required over the canal to prevent debris falling into the watercourse or onto public on the towpath. These works are part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade scheme, which the Trust is obliged to facilitate. Due to the size and scale of the project we are unable to avoid disruption to the canal network over the summer months, however we are doing all we can to keep any disruption to a minimum.
