"One of the best things about living right on the waterside is how I can relax after work."
Tony

I've lived here about three years, and I absolutely love it.

I chose to live here because of the canal. I love that I can do a bit of fishing right outside my own home. I haven't got a gate onto the towpath so I just put a step there and climb over the fence with my rod whenever I want to fish.

They do sometimes have contests down here with top anglers - they can get quite waspy saying they don't catch much down on this bit of the canal. But I do.

I first started fishing in the canal near Blackpole when I was young. I've got other interests such as I'm a motor biker, but fishing is something I just love to do, and it doesn't matter how old I am.

Living right near the towpath is absolutely beautiful. I stand and look down across the water. We've got a lot of swans and that's beautiful. I normally call “woo-hoo”, and they come to me because they know I'll feed them. I love seeing them take off in flight. Six of them went off the other day, it was like a jet engine going off, unbelievable.

Every year they usually nest on the towpath here as well, but this year they moved to a spot where they were a bit safer from people and dogs.

One of the best things about living right on the waterside is how I can relax after work. I work on shifts from six till two, so when I come home from work I can sit on my deckchair by water. Then I might go in and watch a bit of telly.
