To celebrate Heritage Open Day, a nationwide event that gives everyone a chance to celebrate history, culture and visit hidden places, Cheshire’s iconic Anderton Boat Lift is holding a series of free events on Saturday 9 September and Sunday 10 September.

On Wednesday 16 August, we opened our new £50,000 bespoke adventure play area as part of the Let's Play! at Anderton Boat Lift project.
We are hosting a special Discovery Day of free family-friendly drop-in activities on the Pocklington Canal, taking place from 10am until 4pm on Saturday 2 September.
Around 10,000 tonnes of silt is set to be removed from the tidal basin at Sharpness Dock in Gloucestershire during a major dredging project this week.

A ‘Herculean’ effort from volunteers has helped to remove an old railway embankment, which was blocking part of the Montgomery Canal at Pant, near Llanymynech, Shropshire.

We will be transforming a series of historic lock gates and a bridge crossing over the Rochdale Canal into rainbow colours - to celebrate Manchester Pride.
The hunt is on for the East Midlands’ best waterside pub, café or restaurant. We are calling on members of the public to nominate their favourite spot for a beer, a butty or a fine dining experience.

An art project aimed at complimenting the corridor of colour along the historic Oxford Canal has recently been extended to further help tackle the problem of graffiti along the waterway.
This weekend, we are offering people the chance to step back in time at our Open Day at Apperley Bridge, on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
