The charity making life better by water

Discover what it takes to Keep Canals Alive at Crick Boat Show

We will be hosting a series of fun and informative afternoon talks and events about our amazing 2,000 mile network of canals and rivers.

Terence CanalArts at Crick Boat Show

Crick Boat Show, the UK’s biggest inland waterways festival, will be held at Crick Marina, near Daventry in Northamptonshire on the late May Bank Holiday Weekend 25-27 May. Organised by Waterways World in partnership with us and Crick Waterside & Marina, the annual event is expected to attract over 26,000 visitors.

A fantastic day out

As well as being the canal world’s biggest marketplace, showcasing the inland waterways industry with over 200 exhibitors, Crick Boat Show offers a fantastic day out by the water with dozens of boats to view, free boat trips, live music, children’s activities, a real ale bar, and a wide variety of food and drink stalls.

Matthew Symonds, our national boating manager, explains: “Canal & River Trust cares for 2,000 miles of canals and rivers across England & Wales. Our ongoing mission is to protect and keep alive this oldest working heritage network in the world and make it available for people to use and enjoy.

“The Afternoon Talks in the Canal & River Trust Marquee will cover a range of topics shining a light on the challenge of maintaining our 250-year network, including how water supply is managed, towpaths are shared and ways volunteers can support our work. There will also be talks about the history of canal art, and for our youngest visitors, readings from the author of a new story for children about staying safe by the water.”

Get access to expert adivce

As well as our Afternoon Talks, visitors to the show can access expert advice on boating at the event’s free Boat Ownership Seminar programme, including buying a new or second hand boat, living afloat and boat maintenance. And there will be Masterclasses from a number of exhibitors, with topics including switching to electrically powered engines, internet access and solar power systems for boats.

On Saturday 25, Sunday 26 and Monday 27 May adult tickets are £19.00 on the gate and entry for children aged 16 and under is free. A special Trade & Preview Day, sponsored by Haven Knox-Johnston, will be held on Friday 24 May for advanced ticket holders only.
