Preserving canal heritage is a vital part of our work to make life better by water. We're thrilled to celebrate 25 years of the National Lottery Heritage Fund by sharing just some of the projects this has helped bring to life.
Stone aqueducts, historic locks, bridges, lime kilns and a pumping station, these are just some of the heritage structures across England and Wales that have been protected and preserved for everyone to enjoy thanks to our dedicated teams and funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund (formerly HLF) shares our belief that heritage can bring people and communities together. The fund distributes grants to projects which sustain and transform the UK's heritage.
Over the last 25 years, our canals and rivers have received funding for projects big and small. For a flavour of what this has enabled us to achieve follow the links below.
This is just a small selection of the wonderful projects that have taken place on canals and rivers all around England and Wales thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Thank you for helping us to make life better by water.
