Boddington is one of the Midlands' top big-weight match venues. A 65-acre reservoir that tests anglers' skills and equipment, and is also one of the main supplies of water to the local Oxford Canal.
Boddington truly offers something for everyone, whether you're a serious match angler, a mid-week pleasure angler, someone wanting to try out new techniques or a carp angler looking for lots of runs.
This venue is heavily booked with matches at weekends and throughout the week during the summer, but there are always spaces available mid-week for pleasure fishing. It is always advisable to contact the bailiff before you travel, and on arrival to check the noticeboard for the latest information.
Carp now average 12lb in weight, with the odd fish being recorded at close to 25lb. Almost any bait will tempt these fish during the summer months, but they are harder to catch in the winter when the temperature drops and fish move in to deeper areas of the reservoir.
Roach and perch are not often targeted by anglers but thrive in their thousands.
Pike - Boddington has produced two fish weighing in excess of 40lb. It is not inconceivable that a future British record fish could come from this venue.
