Simon started fishing on his local canal at the age of seven. He joined Grindley Brook Club at the age of nine and competed in his first big event just a year later. In his teens, he joined the Shrewsbury Bait Centre match squad. This was followed by a spell representing Browning Lifestyle before joining Drennan North West.

Simon has won numerous matches and competed in many winter leagues and national championships. His proudest moment came in 2014 when he and partner Simon Preece won the inaugural UK Canal Pairs Championship on the Shropshire Union Canal. The pair were fourth in this event in 2018 and both won bronze medals in the 2017 Division one national fishing for Drennan North West.

Simon qualified as a licensed level 2 angling coach in 2016 and now trains our qualified canal coaches in the finer arts of canal fishing coaching. In this series of videos, Simon shares some handy hints and top tips to improve your canal fishing.
