Number 4: Dave Berrow

Dave started his working career down the local pit.

In an interesting and varied career that has so far included coal mining, taxi driving, maggot breeding, bait delivery, bloodworm scraping and a spell as a full time professional angler, Dave was the man to beat on the Midlands Canal circuit in the decade between the mid 1980s and mid 1990s.

One of the great characters who is reputed to have enjoyed the occasional half pint of shandy, Dave finished in the top three in the Kamasan MOTY in five out of six years, triumphing once in the 1990/91 season and finishing runner up on three occsions. Dave fished four home internationals for England.

Having just turned 60, Dave is still competing in and around Cannock and there are strong rumours of a surprise appearance in the 2019 Division Two national.
