The charity making life better by water

Hanwell Locks and the cottage

Hanwell Lock Flight

The Grand Union Canal was once a busy industrial waterway connecting London with the Midlands. Connecting the River Brent to the rest of our canal system, today, Hanwell's flight of seven locks is a great place for a country walk - in the middle of London!

Look out for canal features such as the lock keeper's cottages and a ramp to help horses out of the canal when they fell in.
