The charity making life better by water

Goytre Wharf

Set entirely within the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal (Mon & Brec) is among the most beautiful locations on our network.

At the southern end is Goytre Wharf, near Abergavenny. Once it was a busy site, where lime kilns processed the limestone brought down from the mountains, and boats transported the finished product. Now, it's a fantastic place to explore local history and discover the wildlife living in the canal.

There is plenty to see and do – from hiring a canoe or bicycle to taking advantage of some great woodland walks.
