Summer lock opening times

All locks will be securely padlocked outside opening hours.  

Use of Bridge 9, Handcock's Swing Bridge is restricted during peak traffic times and will be open for user operation from 9:30am to 2pm and 6pm to 7:30am daily (no assistance required). 

Foulridge Tunnel is open all year round using a traffic light system with passage in either direction every 50 minutes. Only proceed through the tunnel when the green light is shown.

  • North West

    Wigan Lock Flight (86 to 65) will be open from 8am until 4pm, last entry 12pm. Please note, due to the ongoing issues, Lock 75 will be staff operated only between 10am until 2pm, daily.  

    Blackburn Lock Flight (57 to 52) will be open from 10am until 4pm, last entry at 3pm. 

    The following lock flights will be open from 10am until 5pm, with last entry at 4pm, daily: 

    • Johnsons Hillock Lock Flight (64 to 58) 
    • Barrowford Lock Flight (51 to 45) 
    • Greenberfield Lock Flight (44 to 42)
  • Yorkshire & North East
    • Bank Newton Locks (41 to 36): Open from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. 
    • Gargrave (Holme Bridge Lock 30): Open from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. 
    • Newlay, Forge & Kirkstall Locks: Open from 9am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm.
  • Bingley Five Rise

    Morning:  

    • Passages down the lock flights between 8am - 10am, last entry at 9am.  
    • Passages up the lock flights between 10am -12 noon, last entry at 11am.  

    Afternoon: 

    • Passages down the lock flight between 1pm - 3pm, last entry at 2pm.
    • Passages up the lock flight between 3pm - 5pm, last entry at 4pm.
