The Distillery garden is planted with vines, strawberries, figs and fruit bushes such as blackcurrants, redcurrants, golden raspberries and gooseberries – all of which are beneficial to health and which you can pick and enjoy a treat on us!
For example, figs contain vitamin A, are a good source of calcium and potassium (which can improve bone density), and the fibre they contain has prebiotic properties which improve digestive wellness. Redcurrants contain lycopene which reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer. Gooseberries contain vitamins and minerals and antioxidants.
Other gardens beside the Distillery and the Roundhouse include shrubs such as ceanothus – which has beautiful blue flowers in spring, a rose garden and the continuation of the linear orchard. We are hoping to develop these gardens further by planting botanicals used to flavour gin such as sloe, lavender, juniper, cardamom sage and rosemary.
The Revolution Walk starts here and continues to the Chance Glass Works in Smethwick.
