Droitwich towpath reopens after upgrade thanks to funding from Wychavon District Council

The popular towpath running from Vines Park in Droitwich to Ladywood Lock in Salwarpe has recently undergone a significant transformation

The improvement has created a more accessible, attractive, and enjoyable route local people and boaters, one that can be use all through the year.

This stretch of the towpath had become difficult to use due to its uneven surface which made using the towpath particularly challenging during wet weather.

Now, thanks to a major investment by Wychavon District Council the towpath has been reconstructed and resurfaced. New directional signage has also been installed as well as three wheelchair friendly benches installed along the route.

This towpath improvement forms a key part of the newly created Droitwich Spa Health Corridor, a wider project designed to promote outdoor activity, wellbeing, and active travel across the town.

The improved route also enhances access to the recently restored Coney Meadow Wetland and reed bed, a thriving wildlife habitat transformed by the us with investment from a share of Wychavon's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
