Working alongside each region's full time colleagues, our boards help to:
- use local knowledge, ideas and capacity to build new relationships, so people can use and enjoy the waterways
 - help us reach the diverse local communities that we serve
 - translate national priorities into local initiatives
 - gather and feedback to Trust colleagues on local priorities, opportunities and risks
 - ‘open doors' to local and regional structures and decision-makers across all sectors and help us grow our supporter base in the local community
 - identify and trial new ways of delivering our ambitions and priorities
