Langley Mill Dockyard opens for Heritage Open Days with free access to this rarely opened site.

Visitors can enjoy guided walks, live storytelling, heritage exhibits, an interactive trail, and homemade refreshments—a unique, unmissable day out.

We're throwing open the gates to Langley Mill Dockyard for Heritage Open Days—and you’re invited! This is your chance to step inside a rarely opened canal site and experience the living story of the Erewash Canal, completely free.

Join us for guided walks to the Cromford Canal and Beggarlee Extension, or explore the Langley Mill Boatyard where our storytellers will bring the Toll House, Pump Engine Room, Swing Bridge, and Dry Dock vividly to life.

Inside the Toll House, you’ll find a fascinating exhibition packed with local canal heritage, photos, and artefacts. Homemade cakes, biscuits, and refreshing drinks will be on offer all day—so come hungry!

Want to get active? Walk or cycle along the towpath and follow our free interactive trail, packed with stories that reveal the canal’s environmental value and industrial past.

It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s a rare opportunity you won’t want to miss. Come and be part of the story!
