On 13 & 14 July we're inviting you down to celebrate the anniversary of this incredible piece of engineering.

Boat trips

As part of the 150th anniversary of Sharpness Port, we are running boat trips over the two day celebration event in Gloucestershire.

Come aboard Queen Boadicea II and embark on a unique journey. This trip will allow you to explore a working port and learn from our local expert about the amazing history of Sharpness Port & The Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. Once we've explored the port, we will head north to Purton and Log Ponds before heading back.

Boat trips cost £10 (or £5 for under 16yrs) and take around 30 minutes. Spaces are limited so book your trip today and get ready for a fantastic experience on the water.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your trip begins. We will book you in at The Events Trailer outside Sharpness Dockers Club. We would encourage you to come more than 15 minutes before your trip as there will be a wealth of other things to do and see at the celebration event.

For more information and to book, please visit our Evenrbrite page.

Guided Walks

Why not come along and walk, get active and learn all about the wonderous place that is Sharpness Port. our volunteers and staff will guide you on a FREE 30-40 minute walk where you will learn all about the oringal lock entrance to the Gloucester & Sharpness canal built in 1827, where the famous Vindicatrix was moored and we'll also talk about The Severn Railway Bridge Disaster. In addition to the historical background of the area, there will be an opportunity to look out over the amazing estuary and discuss some of the wonderful wildlife - that calls the Severn Estuary (a Special Area of Conservation) home.

The route is approx. 0.8miles and includes some slopes, we will however walk at a lesirely pace with plenty of time for stopping and talking. There are also several steps at the end of the walk. If you would like to know more about how accessible the walk is, please email [email protected]

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the walk begins. We will set off from the events trailer outside The Dockers Club. Aside from the walks there will be boat trips, a maritime exhibition, Explorers activities and various orgainsations with local experts on hand to talk to you.

For more information about this event and to book, please visit our Eventbrite page.
