From Friday 4th October assisted passage will be available 9.30am - 3.30pm daily 7 days a week.

From Friday 31st May River Lock will be open with assisted passage between 9.30am and 5pm, 7 days a week.

The Lock will not be open outside of these hours.

During the 2024 summer season River Lock will be in operation between 13:00 and 15:00, 7 days a week.

From the week beginning 6th of November River Lock will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday between 13:00 & 15:00 for boaters wishing to move between the Leeds and Liverpool and Aire and Calder canals.

Due to reduced staff during the winter season River Lock will be open between 1pm and 3pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting from the 1st of November.

Please be aware there are only 4 mooring spaces alongside River Lock. Boaters are advised to moor up before reaching River Lock at Leeds Lock.

Description

River Lock is struggling to achieve a level and is consuming an abnormal amount of water that on occasion leaves Granary Wharf basin above short of water, preventing onward navigation. To mitigate this in the short term we are restricting the operation of the lock to between the hours of 1pm and 3pm 7-days per week. The lock will be unavailable for passage outside of these hours. This will be reviewed by Friday 14th April 2023 when we hope to be able to offer a longer passage window each day.

In the meantime, our Engineering and Project Team are working to specify works and methodology for repairs to be undertaken later this year.
