As reported earlier, a tree has fallen affecting a high power line. As a result National Grid, in order to undertake repairs, have turned off the power in the Shirley area which is also affecting Shirley Drawbridge. We were informed the repair was likely to be complete within the a couple of hours, however the power remains off and we now expect repairs to take at least a further 2 hours. Shirley Drawbridge remains out of operation until the electricity supply is restored.
If the power is not restored this evening, a Canal and River Trust operative will attend site in the morning (16/9/25) and operate the bridge manually for any boats stuck there.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused but it is a result of circumstances outside of our control.
