Descriptions

Update 31 July 2025, 1:41pm

Please be advised the closures will remain in effect until further notice. This measure is due to persistently low water levels, in line with the following notice: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/0197edfe-15e3-7d5d-8e1d-93fbc19e6186 Once we receive sufficient rainfall to allow for the reopening of the locks, this notice will be updated accordingly. We appreciate your continued understanding.

Update 24 July 2025, 11am

Please be advised that the closures will remain in place until further notice. The ongoing low water levels are due to a prolonged lack of rainfall affecting this stretch and several others. As a result, these locks will remain closed to navigation until sufficient rainfall cause water levels to return to a safe and sustainable level. We appreciate your understanding during this time.

Update 21 July 2025, 3:32pm

Navigation stoppage remains in place after a review of water levels today (21/07/25) which are too low for navigation and lack of availability of water in the pounds above. The stoppage notice will be reviewed again tomorrow (22/07/25).

Original 20 July 2025, 2:20pm

Due to very low water levels between Locks 26 and 27, a navigation closure is in place.

Water resource and availability above Lock 26 is currently being closely monitored with navigation restrictions currently in place.

The stoppage notice will be reassessed on Monday 21/07/25.
