Please be advised that Network Rail are commencing work today, beginning with vegetation clearance along the boundary wall. This will be followed by the installation of scaffolding to enable the safe demolition of the existing structure situated on top of the retaining wall. Repair works will then be carried out.
The towpath is expected to reopen by 16 October 2025.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these works.

The towpath at this location remains closed while we wait for Network Rail to confirm their schedule of works. Unfortunately, we don't yet have a date for when it will reopen.
We'll share an update as soon as we have more information. If you spot any damage to the fencing or safety panels, please let us know by calling 0303 040 4040.

The towpath remains closed due to a structural failure of the retaining wall, which continues to pose a danger to the public.
Network Rail is aware of the issue and is currently assessing the situation. Until the area is deemed safe, the towpath will remain inaccessible.
We appreciate your patience and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

Network Rail retaining wall has failed resulting in blocked towpath and dangerous structure. Network Rail are aware of the problem and are assessing problem.
