The charity making life better by water

Volunteers needed to welcome visitors to Burnley

We're looking for volunteers to meet and greet boaters, walkers, cyclists and anglers at our welcome station in Rosegrove.

Burnley Welcome Station

This year the Leeds & Liverpool Canal celebrates its 200th anniversary and we hope the canal's higher profile will result in even more visitors being attracted to the waterway.

Volunteers play a vital role in our work to promote the canal network and engage with visitors and we're looking for people to help out at our welcome station.

Meet new people

Matt Taylor, the North West volunteer coordinator with the Trust, explained: “We are looking for people with a few spare hours each week who are enthusiastic about their local area and enjoy talking to people. We don't expect volunteers to have an expert knowledge of the canal. Full training will be given.

“This is a great way to meet new people and play a valuable role in helping visitors enjoy themselves. This is a seasonal role and if you enjoy being in the outdoors in the summer months, there are few pleasanter places to be than by our wonderful waterways.”

To find out more about how to get involved contact Matt Taylor by emailing [email protected] or call 0303 040 4040 from Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm (4.30pm on Fridays).
