From 29 March until 31 October 2024, ‘Little Star’ (‘Seren Fach’) will be again be offering daily skippered narrowboat trips across the UNESCO World Heritage structure.

The 'stream in the sky'

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, nicknamed the ‘stream in the sky’, was built in 1805 by pioneering canal engineer Thomas Telford, and was granted World Heritage Status in 2009.

Earlier in March, a major health check was carried out on the 307-metre long and 38-metre high aqueduct by us. The aqueduct was drained for engineers to inspect bolts, joins and seals its drained channel.

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct trip boat Little Star takes visitors on 45-minute return trips along the Llangollen Canal and across the 38-metre high historic aqueduct.

About the Easter boat trip

Emma Lovell, Reservations Manager for Anglo Welsh, says: “From Easter, our boat trips across the incredible Pontcysyllte Aqueduct will return to their daily service, offering visitors to the World Heritage site the chance to enjoy this ‘bucket list’ experience.

“Our trip boat takes passengers along the Llangollen Canal and across the aqueduct to see amazing views across the Dee Valley. Our knowledgeable team provides commentary on board about the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Llangollen Canal, which is a great way to learn more about the fascinating history of the site as you cruise gently along.

“Refreshments are available to purchase on board, including hot and cold drinks and over the Easter weekend our Easter Bunny will offer chocolate treats to children.”

‘Little Star’/’Seren Fach’ offers space for up to 48 passengers. Adult tickets are priced at £10 each, children (aged under 16) are priced at £6. Family tickets for two adults and two children are priced at £25 each. Refreshments are available to purchase on board, including hot and cold drinks and ice creams.
