Purton Hulks - Gloucester & Sharpness Canal

Also known as the Ship's Graveyard, the site contains scheduled ancient monuments in the form of historic boat wrecks that were beached here throughout the 20th century in an effort to protect the banks of the River Severn from erosion.

Purton Hulks runs along on a narrow strip of uneven terrain between the banks river and Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. This site is not suitable for large film crews due the delicate nature of the hulks that protrude from the ground around the site.

Parking: Yes, a few spaces suitable for cars. You will need permission to drive along the towpath.
