Every day, the Trust's water management and MEICA/SCADA teams work closely together to make sure there's enough water in our canals and rivers for boating, the natural environment, canal side/boating businesses and the many visitors to our network.
We've over 600 monitoring stations at strategic points in the canals, river navigations and reservoirs we manage. We monitor using the latest technology and a bespoke system designed and managed by us.
For the first time ever, both teams will be at the Crick Boat Show, where you can learn more about how we do this:
- meet our friendly staff and learn about what we do
- see first-hand how we continuously measure our water levels and use technology to control structures eg. swing bridges, remotely
- learn how obstacles in our canals can affect water flows with a demonstration hydraulic flume
- find out how we do spot gauging of flows across our network using state of the art equipment
As well as offering a fantastic fun day out for all the family, you can also learn something new.
The show will be at Crick Marina, between 26 and 28 May 2018.
