Short wildlife walk on the Montgomery Canal

The Montgomery Canal brings wildlife right into the centre of Welshpool and we have devised a fascinating canal trail to help you and your family make the most of this exciting waterway.

Our trail follows a 1.2 mile (2km) mile section of the Montgomery Canal wiith lots to see along the way.

Begin our trail near Tesco in Welshpool, then follow the towpath out towards Powis Castle.

Access for all

Most of the canal is accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs, but in order to avoid the 1:4 gradient down from stop point 1, you might want to start at trail at stop 2.
