Safeguarding

We’re committed to providing safe environments and working practices that promote and protect safety and welfare at all times.

Each year thousands of children and young people benefit from valuable learning, social action and participatory experiences along our canals and rivers.

It's our hope that they will form a life-long relationship with our organisation and fall in love with our canals and rivers. It's important that their involvement in our work is rewarding, fun, enjoyable and safe.

Our safeguarding policy

We have a clear Safeguarding Standard and guidance for our colleagues and volunteers to follow.

All of our colleagues and volunteers, and anyone working on our behalf, has a responsibility to understand our policy and implement our safeguarding approach.

We offer training to our people and we keep up to date with best practice and legislative changes.

We have a Safeguarding Steering Group, made up of representatives from across our organisation, to review progress and decide on future actions.
