    Brian

I'm Brian Smith. I work for Canal & River Trust. I am a fabricator and welder at Level 3. Previously I'd worked in a bakery, at a children's care home and I decided to change career because I was looking for something that I would enjoy doing. When I saw the vacancy online I saw that it was a level 3 so it was a step up from what I've been doing before.

In terms of the Trust, they have put me through side loader training, counterbalance training, overhead crane training as well. If you look at a lock gate there's something metal on it, we probably made it, talking about heels, hoops, L's, T's, some paddles, yeah. I enjoy coming to work every day.

I don't get out of bed and think "oh no, got to go to work" I actually get out of bed and think "yes, I've got to go to work". I'm looking forward to completing my apprenticeship and carrying on my career at Canal & River Trust. If you want a change career you're not happy where you are, yeah change, do something else. Enjoy what you're doing. I like coming to work and Canal & River Trust is a good place to do that.
