My name is Ammar and I’m 13 years old. This is the story of my first two years of active involvement in fishing, and I can’t wait for the next two years to come around either.
In the historic 1981 Division Two National Championship, held on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, National Federation of Anglers President Joe Betteridge welcomed anglers to what was a momentous occasion.

I tried fishing for the first time in 2020 with a friend and loved fishing in nature. The river, the trees and birds, the tranquillity coupled with the excitement of a disappearing float signalling a bite. I was so eager to learn more about the sport! This is how my Let's Fish! story went down.
Back in 2018, the junior section of the Stoke-on-Trent Angling Society (SOTAS) was at a low ebb. There were just seven juniors left in membership and precious little hope of being able to do anything about the dramatic decline from former glories. Back then, young Brandon Sumner dreamed of going fishing but had never had the chance to go. He wouldn’t know it, but his fishing ambitions were to be very much linked to the decision by SOTAS to get involved with the Let’s Fish! programme.
Like so many of my generation, I started fishing as a lad aged 11 in 1970 and carried on enthusiastically until 1979. Fortunately, my uncle Lenny Bolton took the time to get me started and immerse me into the sport. This is my story, brought to you by Davey Jones.
