A vibrant canal festival celebrating the 75th anniversary of the 1950 IWA Festival of Boats and Arts held in Market Harborough - a tipping point in the campaign to prevent the loss of the inland waterways. The event is being organised by the IWA Leicestershire Branch in partnership with the Canal & River Trust, together with the Old Union Canal Society, Foxton Museum and Harborough District Council.
There will be floating traders, historic narrowboats, trading stalls, exhibitions, music and fast food all located by the canal. A colourful cavalcade of boats will make their way up the Harborough Arm of the canal on the Saturday of the event to commemorate the 1950 Festival of Boats & Arts.
