Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Discosailing invites Disco Sailers to perform on Paddleboards in the Olympic Park in partnership with the London Youth Rowing Club and ARUP to coincide with the opening of the Paris Olympic Games.

The Line presents Disco Sailing: A Ballet on Water in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in July and September 2024. Conceived in 1970 by Karachi-born, London-based artist Rasheed Araeen and last realised in Gorky Park, Moscow, in 2019, Discosailing invites disco sailors from the local community to perform collectively on the water in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The first performance will coincide with the opening of the Paris Olympic Games, drawing connections between the themes of Disco Sailing (part sport, part expressive movement) and the legacy of the 2012 games in East London.
