We have now managed to get the water levels up to the required levels for navigation.

Although their is damage to the cill on the bottom gates of the lock we feel that at this stage we are able to open the lock up for boats to pass through.

We will continue to monitor the water levels and the cill over the coming days.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

We are continuing to monitor the water feeds along the canal above Shardlow lock.

We have increased the feed of water at Wychnor which comes off the River Trent.

Unfortunately we suffered some anti social behavior at Dallow lock during last night which has slowed the recovery process down.

The team are working the system between Wychnor and Shardlow to get as much water through in an attempt to recover the levels

The team this afternoon have managed to realign the bottom gates.

We are now in the process of checking the water feeds and weir crests, in an attempt to maximum the flow of water in to the pound above the lock in order to raise the water level.

A further update will be issued tomorrow morning

Description

The bottom lock gates have been damaged and have also come out of alignment.

This has resulted in the loss of water within the lock, along with the pound above

Staff are currently on site looking at ways in which to rectify the issue.
