Description
Notice to Small Craft Owners/Operators
Use of the floating pontoon, tidal basin, Sharpness Dock
Safety Notice
Owners and operators of small craft are reminded that the floating pontoon situated between the two jetties in the tidal basin at Sharpness Dock is to be used solely as a temporary mooring by small craft waiting to enter the estuary or the lock and as directed by Canal and River Trust staff.
Directions may be given by radio. VHF channel 13 ("Sharpness Radio") should thus be monitored.
There is no provision for access to any vessel moored to the pontoon. Use of the adjacent piers and ladders for access is prohibited. Crew members are required to remain on the pontoon or on their vessel whilst it is in the tidal basin.
Due to the nature of the lock environment, owners and operators of small craft are also reminded that crewmembers should not embark/disembark whilst their vessel is in the lock without the consent of the Canal and River Trust staff member in charge of lock operations.
