After having a few setbacks due to the supply chain, the works at Bridge 36 will now commence on Monday 14 April and run through to the 25 April 2025.
The towpath closure will run in line with these works.
When approaching Bridge 36 please take care and proceed with caution as a crane boat and tug are moored up on site.
These works will not impact craft passing through.

Following a review of project methodologies, we can complete these works from the 18 March 2025 as a restriction.
Unfortunately, whilst dewatering the navigation the canal wall north of the bridge slipped, this means the navigational restriction will need to run until the 11 April to facilitate these works.
The navigation will be restricted in width due to a crane boat and tug being moored up. We believe wide beam craft should still be able to pass.
The towpath will be closed from the 31 March to the 11 April 2025.
*Please note this web notice will be updated on the 18 March to reflect that its no longer a navigational closure.

We are sorry to advise our boating customers that the works at Bridge 36 to repair the failed wall need to be extended by one week.
The main reason for this is that the extent of the wall repairs has substantially increased and given the stage we are at with the works it is important to complete them.
We apologise for the impact this delay to reopening will have on our boating customers.
