Contractors have confirmed that the boat will be lifted in at Norbury Wharf on Monday 20th January, with the boat arriving on-site on Tuesday morning to begin clearing the navigation.

On Monday, the tree team will focus on removing the remaining trunk from the offside weir and the Yew tree in the cutting. Starting Tuesday morning, they will begin clearing the trees obstructing the navigation, with the aim of having the navigation clear by Friday 24th January.

Please note that the towpath will remain closed until the landslip areas are fully cleared.

Unfortunately, since Storm Darragh, several additional trees have fallen, which has led to an update in the scope of the required works.

We are now nearing the point where we can instruct contractors to begin the necessary works. Once the works have been formally instructed, we will provide a further update.

Please note that, to facilitate mobilisation and undertake the works safely, it is likely that the navigation will remain closed until Friday 24th January.

Thank you for your continued patience.

The navigation and towpath remains closed here.

The large tree that had fallen onto the offside weir was cleared over the festive period. In collaboration with our contractors, we are continuing to develop an effective methodology for clearing trees that are still blocking navigation.

We will provide an update on Wednesday 8th January.

The navigation between Bridge 56 and Bridge 59 will remain closed until the first week of January.

Our contractors will focus on clearing the tree obstructing the offside weir near Bridge 59. This will be prioritised today to ensure the weir can function at full capacity over the Christmas period, should we get any significant rainfall.

Additionally, a large fallen ash tree requires removal. Due to its size and position, this will not be a straightforward operation and will require careful planning to ensure safe extraction. As a result, we anticipate the work to be completed by the first week of January.

We will provide an update by Wednesday 8th January. Thank you for your patience.

Description

Please be advised that the navigation between Bridge 56 and Bridge 59 (Woodseaves Cutting) will be closed until at least Christmas week. This closure is a result of significant damage caused by Storm Darragh, which has led to multiple fallen trees and landslips obstructing the navigation route.

Our contractors are currently on site, but the scale of the work required is greater than initially anticipated. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this busy time.

We will provide a further update on progress by Friday 20th December.
