The narrowboat which has succumbed to flood water and is sinking, remains located below Kegworth flood lock on the River Soar.

It is on the approach mooring and is nearly fully submerged. We are unable to attend site to identify the boat or take action presently because we have returned to flood conditions.

The boat is currently moored safely above the lock and no longer poses a hazard. There should be no travel along this section while we are in flood. However, once we are out of flood, we ask that boats pass here with care.

We will update this notice as soon as the water levels come down and we are able to attend site.

Description

There is a narrowboat which has succumbed to flood water and is sinking below Kegworth flood lock on the river soar. It is on the approach mooring and is nearly fully submerged.

We are aware that there are also some items floating in the river and what appears to be some diesel fuel spilling from the boat into the river.

Due to the conditions we are unable to do anything at present and we are also unable to identify the boat. It is moored safely, for now, above the lock and no longer poses a hazard.

Boaters should not be travelling on the River Soar at this moment in time, due to the current flood conditions. However, once we are out of flood, we ask that boats pass here with care.

We will update this notice as soon as the water levels come down and we are able to attend site.
