The navigation at Drinkwaters Lift Bridge had to be dewatered to allow us to complete the planned works to the bridge approach. Unfortunately, after the water levels were lowered, the adjacent canal wall unexpectedly collapsed. This has meant removing the resulting additional material from site, as well as providing a suitable repair of the collapsed bank and canal wall brickwork. Additional work is also required to construct the pit for the hydraulic mechanism for the lift bridge.

As a result, we need to extend the length of the closure by two weeks, until 20th March.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this extension to the stoppage may cause. We will continue to do everything we can to complete the works as soon as possible.

Description

The navigation will be dewatered to allow works to rebuild the bridge approach end walls.

Works will also include the installation of a manual hydraulic lift system.
