We are unable to complete the towpath works at the Palmerston Street Embankment due to the current Government restrictions and guidelines, which have affected supplies.
The towpath will remain closed until further notice.
Please also be aware boats are not permitted to moor between Bridges 26, Sugar Lane Bridge and 26A, Clarence Mill Footbridge.

Repairs to Palmerston Street Embankment are complete and the canal navigation will re-open later today, Friday 13 March, as planned.
However the towpath will remain closed until 4pm on Friday 3rd April, in order to carry out the remaining works required,
We politely request you not to moor between Bridges 26, Sugar Lane Bridge, and 26A, Clarence Mill Footbridge, to allow our contractors to carry out their work safely.
Access to Clarence Mill, via the towpath, will be maintained from the east for the duration of the works.
Thank you for your support and patience during this closure.

The winter stoppage between Bridges 26-27, Bollington, for repairs to the Palmerston Street Embankment, has been brought forward as a result of current issues with leakage. Please see our Emergency Notice for further details.
Following the recent leakage, our contractors will now be starting to work in the area from 16th October.
The repairs will include a canal bed relining scheme on a 80m section of the canal between Bridges 26 (Sugar Lane Bridge) and 27 (Kerridge Road Bridge), together with 66m of wash wall re-build near Clarence Mill.
The navigation will be dewatered with works expected to be completed and the navigation re-opened by 13th March 2020.
In addition to the navigation closure, several towpath closures / restrictions will be in place throughout the works. However, we envisage being able to keep pedestrian access to the mill via Bridge 26A (Clarence Mill Footbridge) open throughout.
