Please be advised that due to the difficulties our customers are having operating Burghfield lock, we are putting in place assisted restricted opening times.
The lock will be manned by Trust staff and volunteers from 1100 hours to 1300 hours daily. The lock will be closed outside of these times.
Our engineers have noted accelerated deterioration on the tow path side bottom gate, specifically the quoin which will require bracing. The work will include additional steel work to be fitted as well as reinstate the framework around the offside ground paddle. We understand this may cause issues in timing for our customers however to preserve the longevity of the gate, restricted access is required. Works to the gate will be carried out shortly.
