Updates

18/09/2018 10:33

Following the recent rainfall, we are pleased to advise that as from tomorrow (19 September 2018), the Glasson Branch will be open as normal.

Although we are keen to take advantage of the recent weather to allow boating to restart in some areas that are currently closed, this is still a very dry period for the waterways and so we will keep the situation under constant review.  Please monitor our notices for future updates.

In order to maintain this opportunity we would appreciate that boaters wait to share locks wherever possible, close all gates and paddles and do not to empty or fill a lock if someone else can make use of the water.

Description

Following a sustained period of warm weather, we are experiencing unexpected levels of weed growth on the feed at Tewitfield on the Lancaster Canal.  This has resulted in low water levels.  To conserve water, we are implementing opening times on Glasson Locks.  The Glasson Flight will be open to navigation from 9am to 3pm daily.

We have a contract team completing weed removal works later this week and an update will be issued on Friday 29 June 2018.
