The new stretch will merge what were two independent fisheries, and contains a variety of water types, from calm flats suitable for traditional ‘dry fly' fishing, to fast flowing water that allows ‘pocket' fishing, targeting sheltered spots where fish rest away from the current. It can accommodate up to three salmon or four trout spots per day, and is available to fish from Tuesdays to Fridays.
The River Usk is a haven for wildlife, and is home to a wide variety of fish, most notably large and thriving trout and salmon populations.
Best possible deal
John Ellis, Glandŵr Cymru national fisheries and angling manager, said: “The River Usk offers world class trout fishing in Wales, and it's great to be able to work with Glanusk Tymawr and the Wye & Usk Foundation to give anglers the best possible deal. Fishing on the Usk doesn't just offer great sport, it helps to maintain the river as a fantastic habitat for the fish and the other wildlife that depend on it.”
