The charity making life better by water

We've got a new head of museums

We're very pleased to announce that Graham Boxer has been appointed as our new head of museums. Graham will be responsible for the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, the Gloucester Waterways Museum and all of the museum and archive collections.

Graham joins us from the Imperial War Museum. He has previously worked for Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Culture Company and earlier at St George's Hall and National Museums & Galleries on Merseyside.

Canal & River Trust, chief executive Richard Parry, said: “We're thrilled to welcome Graham to the team. He brings with him a wealth of experience, knowledge and networks within the museum, archives and collections sector. Graham will develop and deliver a sustainable plan for the museums, whilst acting as our advisor on all matters of policy concerning the historic archives and collection in our care, drawing on his considerable experience from the museum sector. He joins a motivated and engaged team of employees and volunteers who will help deliver a first class museum service for the Trust.”

Graham adds: “I'm very pleased to be joining the Canal & River Trust at this exciting time and helping the Museums raise the profile of the important work of the Trust in maintaining our canals and the nationally significant collection and archives.”

Graham will be start working with us on 27 April.
