Linny Beaumont
We've confirmed the appointment of Linny Beaumont as regional director following a comprehensive recruitment process.
Linny, who lives next to the River Soar in Leicestershire, joined us three years ago to oversee our partnerships and external relations across the East Midlands. She previously held senior roles at the Prince's Trust and Home Start UK.
Linny takes up her new role immediately, following on from her interim leadership of the region following the departure of Phil Mulligan to become chief executive of the Peak District National Park.
Building support
Speaking about her appointment, Linny said: “Living right by the River Soar I know just how important the waterways in the East Midlands are to boaters and local communities and the difference they can make to people's lives.
“I'm proud and excited to continue our important work building support for our precious waterways and protecting this incredible network so that it is here to benefit the community for generations to come.
“As a charity we need more people to get involved in our work and I'll be looking to build the support from parliamentarians, local authorities, businesses and communities that will be so vital in ensuring that our waterways can prosper and never again fall into the decline that we saw in the early and mid-20th century.”
We care for around 300 miles of waterways in the East Midlands, covering Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. With more than 800,000 people in the region living on the doorstep of one of these waterways, they connect communities and bring vital health and wellbeing benefits as well as supporting jobs and the local visitor economy.
