The charity making life better by water

We're bringing fire safety advice to boaters

We are holding an event for boaters on Sunday 4 June 2017 to highlight the dangers of boat fires and how they can be prevented. The event is part of Boat Fire Safety Week, which runs from 29 May to 4 June 2017.

Our towpath rangers Alex and Gareth, alongside officers from Park Royal Fire Station, will be on board our education boat Jena and a fire brigade rib to offer advice on any issue, with a focus on fire safety. The boats will cruise along the Grand Union Canal from Park Royal to Little Venice, giving out free fire and CO2 alarms to people on the way.

Sorwar Ahmed, our London boater liaison manager said: "Fires on boats can be incredibly destructive and it's important that boaters know how to keep themselves, and their boats, safe. Boat Fire Safety Week is a great time to raise awareness. We've got experts on hand to answer all your questions so come along and find out more."
