The festival will take place on Friday afternoon 9 September until Sunday 11 September 2016 on the Leigh Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Festivities will include live music, free water-sport taster sessions, free climbing wall, BBQ and a beer festival at the historic Waterside Inn.
Local trip boat, 'Kittywake' will provide boat trips and cruises along the canal as part of the festival for visitors and the Trust is hoping dozens of boaters will bring their colourful painted boats to moor in the town centre and join in the festivities. Trade boats will be there selling goods including mugs, clothes and art.
Town centre visitor moorings are available over the weekend. Boat owners can book a berth in advance with the Trust by contacting [email protected]
Trust waterway manager Chantelle Seaborn, said: "Leigh Canal Festival was a great success last year and thousands of people came along to enjoy live music, canoeing, boat trips and a beer festival at the historic Waterside Inn.
"We're hoping this year will be even better with the 'Kittywake' running to and from Pennington Wharf with events there as well. Anyone that can help volunteer over the weekend would be very welcome."
If anyone is interested in volunteering at the festival to be part of the stewarding or clean team, or to volunteer on a regular basis as part of our towpath taskforce, please contact [email protected]
