Volunteers get Little Venice scrubbed-up ahead of canal festival
Volunteers from local businesses in Paddington Central have helped give the canal in Little Venice a new coat of paint, ahead of this year’s IWA Canalway Cavalcade festival.
The team joined staff from the Trust to spruce-up the pool in Little Venice, which is home to the annual event that sees thousands gather to celebrate every aspect of waterway life.
Canalway Cavalcade, which is run by the Inland Waterways Association, takes place this year from 2-4 May. For more information visit https://www.waterways.org.uk/events_festivals
Rob Strickland, Paddington Central estate director, said: "Paddington Central is delighted to be working with the Canal & River Trust to help keep the canals in Paddington clean and prepare for the Cavalcade. It’s a great opportunity for the management team and occupiers like Kingfisher and the Prudential to come together and contribute something back to the local area. It’s also great fun and a great experience."
Debbie Vidler, our volunteer development co-ordinator, added: “IWA Canalway Cavalcade is a brilliant event so we want Little Venice to be in top condition for everyone who visits. It’s great to get help from local businesses to do this. We hope this year’s festival gets the best of the weather and I’d encourage anyone to pay it a visit.”
