Two new permanent trade moorings in Paddington

Today we're announcing the results of our tender for new permanent trade moorings in Paddington Basin and in Little Venice Pool.

Phil Spencer, head of boating business at the Trust, said: “We received many more applications than we were anticipating and took extra time to make sure we could find the best option for this location and for visitors to the canal at Paddington. We are pleased to announce that we have selected British Land, who put forward a creative and competitive bid for two moorings: an independent coffee boat and floating ‘welcome centre' to give more information about the canals to people visiting the area.

“We also had a fantastic range of bids for moorings in Little Venice, and have created a shortlist of applicants who we want to work with to understand their plans in more detail.

“It's been really exciting to see the interest in the area and I was impressed by the high quality of boats and the varied and colourful services they offer. Where there is the opportunity we will investigate creating more trade moorings to give even more trade boats the option of a regular or permanent spot.

“I'd like to thank all the applicants and hope to see them out and about on London's waterways and beyond.”
