The charity making life better by water

Scouts help us to look after local canal

Scouts from the 325 Birmingham, 1 Billesley Scout group have been out and about along the North Stratford Canal in Warwickshire helping the Trust look after the region's waterways.

As part of their weekend camp along the waterways the Scouts, who are aged between 10 and 14, spent a day helpingus care for a picnic area alongside the canal. The group helped to repaint benches and wooden sculptures as well as helping with a spot of gardening.

Sue Blocksidge, from the Trust, said: "It's always lovely to have the Scouts out on the canal as they always work really hard and do a fantastic job. We always have a great variety of tasks whenever Scout groups come out on the canal and it's great they are helping us make a difference to the waterways."

Kelly Astle, assistant group scout leader from the 325 Birmingham, 1 Billesley Scout Group, said: "The highlight of our weekend camp was helping out along the canal. The group really enjoyed themselves and loved helping to repaint the picnic area and we are really pleased we could lend a hand."
